I graduated from the University of Warwick in 1998 with a BA Hons in English and American Literature, and have since worked in a number of different industries developing my writing skills.

After earning my degree and a few years working in administrative positions, it was in recruitment that I really began to find opportunities to write: CVs and applications, employment advertising copy, candidate profiles, and job specifications, both for print and online. This stage of my career was also crucial in developing my ability to work with a range of industries and levels of executives and managers, whilst working for Reed. During my time here I received my Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Recruitment Services (CPRS) from Royal Holloway College London.

I further developed my ability to communicate with a variety of audiences in succinct and accessible language when I joined ExtraCare. At this large regional charity my main focus was in creating funding proposals and grant applications. I also wrote a training manual to accompany the organisation's donor database, using technical language in a clear and helpful way for users with varying experience and knowledge.

After leaving full-time employment to raise my family, I began to build a wide network of contacts, discovering many varied opportunities to write, and use my editing and proofreading skills.

Over the last thirteen years I have worked with primary and secondary schools, nurseries and academies to support them with advertising, recruitment, marketing, fundraising, internal publications, handbooks and training literature. Between 2005-2011 I wrote synthesis reports and summaries for the University of Birmingham's International Development Department, and I've written a range of summaries of social science and behavioural / lifestyle books for a charitable organisation to use as wider reading for parenting and marriage courses. I have worked with many individuals on writing CVs, various employment and academic applications, and provided proofreading support on dissertations and theses papers.
