A snapshot of some of my work and collaborations – across copy writing, editing, product descriptions, web copy, lectures & writing workshops, and proofreading
writing executive summaries, report writing, copy editing, layout & proofreading
I work extensively with Oxford Policy Management, a UK-based global international development agency, working with international aid partners to produce research and deliver large scale development operations around the world.
I work with OPM consultants to write and edit research papers and high value bids for key development stakeholders, and major international NGOS.
As well as the complex and specialised nature of the work, and the need to write for an international and wide ranging audience, one of the key qualities I bring to my work with OPM is the ability to turn around both small and large scale pieces of work against highly flexible timescales.
OPM consultants say:
"...proposal drafting, summarising complex academic texts and global policy documents, providing grammar checks... on all counts she has been excellent... a very personable, conscientious professional who can cope with ridiculous deadlines and still be relied upon to deliver quality work"
"Thank you so much for your amazing flexibility!"
"I really appreciate how quickly you produced this"
"Thank you so much for your support and effort"
"You did a great job"
"Thanks for your help, and being so reliable!"
Articles, product descriptions & social media campaign support
Peach Perfect is a small gift and lifestyle business, and owner Kate Findlay asked me to work on some of her product lines, giving shape and substance to her marketing, writing and editing articles, and providing social media support for product campaigns.
Kate at Peach Perfect says:
"I love it. It's brilliant – thank you!"
web copy for new business launch
The House of Webb is a bridal boutique, with many years of couture experience. THOW is shortly to relaunch online, expanding into the international demi-couture design market. I worked with owners Sam and Rachel to develop stylish and simple web copy for their brand new website, introducing the designers, the process, and the elegant aesthetic of the House of Webb to the global market. This project's unique challenge was in communicating the values of a highly personal designer to an international audience. The new site is due to launch in March 2017.
Sam at THOW says:
"You've done it again. Perfect. You are just the best!"
product descriptions, seo & cta for shopify stores
Peter Brady is a freelance web developer, specialising in Drupal, for whom I've worked on various projects. Operating in close collaboration, I've developed web copy for a range of products and services including audiobook summaries, and Shopify store descriptions, with an emphasis on SEO and Calls to Action.
"Astounding... perfect... I love what you've written, and the transitions from descriptions to Calls to Action are so elegant"
WRITING COURSE & CREATIVITY WORKSHOP
Nexus ICA is a West Midlands music institute, validated by the University of West London, offering a higher education course in popular music and worship.
Nexus ICA asked me to develop and deliver an academic writing course for their students, combining lectures, workshops and tutorials. I have also developed a Creativity multimedia workshop for the students.
Richard at Nexus ICA says:
"Is did a fantastic job, helping our students develop their creative and academic writing skills. She made the subject engaging... and demonstrated an excellent rapport with the students"
Race programme articles and runners profiles
King Henry VIII School, an independent school in the Midlands, hosts a nationally renowned annual relay race, with celebrity guest speakers including parkrun founder Paul Sinton-Hewitt, Ron Hill MBE, and Liz Yelling, double Olympian marathoner. Each year, I provide the biographical story for these well known athletes, and additional research, writing and editorial support to create a fact-filled and entertaining programme.
David Morton, Deputy Headteacher at King Henry VIII School, says:
"I have been delighted with the writing produced by Is Andrews for King Henry VIII School. Her work is researched in detail, fluent in its style and accessible to a wide range of readers. Our Relay Race programme has improved significantly in quality as a direct result of Is's work"
EYFS policies & procedures, writing marketing material, and developing fundraising campaigns
A community nursery in Coventry, St Barbara's Pre-school required a significant amount of writing and editorial support when faced with the challenge of producing the policies and procedures required for Early Years Foundation Status compliance. I worked with this small and vibrant pre-school for several years, also producing their marketing and fundraising materials and recruitment literature.
Jane, former Chair of Directors at St Barbara's Pre-school, says:
"Is provided much needed expertise in writing and editing documents, and leading the process of designing, developing and producing written material for publication... Her thoroughness, attention to detail, conscientiousness, and her ability to work independently and in collaboration with others made it a delight to work with Is, and I would recommend her services to others"
